Hair Damage & Hair Repair
Most hair damage is caused by chemicals such as hair color and harsh shampoo. The rest comes from climate. We are constantly in the sun or exposed to salt water or chlorine.
Stripped Cuticle
with Broken Hair Fibers
The water in San Diego is 9 on the ph scale which is high in alkaline, and not really fit to drink or use on your hair. The vast majority of people use hair products they buy from the super market or drug store. Others get their products from a beauty supply or hair dresser. Most contain sulfates and waxes which build up on the hair. Read the labels: most are worthless like the advice you get from most stylists about hair products.
Anytime you put a chemical on your hair, you will get some damage depending on the product. When you get your hair done professionally, you will have less damage if they are using European products which contain less ammonia than American products. It's the ammonia that does the damage to you hair, not peroxide. If the cuticle is blown open by harsh chemicals it will be difficult to closed and will keep getting worse.
Healthy Hair with Closed Cuticle
When hair is healthy and the cuticle is closed, it will reflect light and look shiny. I have found some European products when combined will close the cuticle and keep it in good condition until it can be cut off. You can always tell European color, it SHINES. Ask your hair dresser what color they use and don't settle for less. The cost of the European product is a little more, but aren't you worth it?
